Your child's activity stays on their device
This is the part we want you to know first: everything your child does inside TotWord — their display language, the level they are on, their name, their pinned voice, which words they have found, which topics they have finished, and their quiz history — is saved only on the device they are using. None of it is sent to our servers.
Clearing your browser's site data for TotWord removes all of this permanently, on that device.
Signing in
You sign in with your Google account through Firebase Authentication. This gives us your Google account ID, your email address, and, optionally, your name and profile photo. There is no separate child account — the account belongs to you, the parent — and we never ask for or collect your child's age.
What we store on our servers
The only record we keep on our servers is a single entry tied to your email address, noting whether your account has premium access. That is the whole record — we do not store your child's name, progress, or activity anywhere but your device.
Who we share information with
We use a small number of services to run TotWord:
- Google Firebase, to sign you in.
- Google Analytics, to see how the app is used.
- Cloudflare, to deliver images and audio quickly.
- Resend, only if you choose to join our newsletter, to send that email.
We do not sell your information, and we do not log your IP address or location.
Payment
TotWord offers a 7-day free trial followed by a one-time premium unlock. We do not use a payment processor today, so TotWord never sees or handles your card details. Premium access is switched on by us by hand, against your account email, after payment is arranged outside the app.
Cookies
We do not use tracking cookies. The only thing stored in your browser is the on-device data described above.
Children's privacy
TotWord is designed for parents to use with their children. We do not collect a child's name, age, or activity on our servers — that information stays on the device, as described above. The account itself belongs to the parent, identified only by an email address.
Your choices
You can clear all on-device data at any time by clearing your browser's site data for TotWord. To ask us to delete the account record tied to your email, write to us at [email protected].
